Designed, developed, engineered and 100% manufactured locally in Geelong, Australia, Partington CC’s initial product release, the innovative R- Series Wheelset have been recognised in the prestigious 2020 Australian Good Design Awards in not one but two categories; Engineering Design and Product Design – Sport and Lifestyle.

Much like the blank sheets of carbon fibre fabric the wheels are crafted from Partington CC went back to a blank canvas to reimagine the bicycle wheel. “Bicycles have been around for over 200 years, but bike wheels have always been based on similar principles,” Jon Partington, CTO and Founder, said. “We went back to the drawing board to create wheels that holistically draws on the strengths of advanced materials like carbon fibre, titanium and performance composites to achieve a significant all-round performance improvement.” Developing in house tooling and unique and novel process to achieve a best in class product.

Weighting in at an impressive 1200 grams (wheelset) including freehub bodies, these UCI certified wheels are true tubeless requiring no rim tape and come supplied with specific valve bodies. Rim profile and depth is specific front (39mm) to rear (44mm) and optimised for 25 – 28mm tyres, with the best performance being obtained from an asymmetric setup up of a 25mm front and 28mm rear tyre.

Real world feedback from early users, including Cadel Evans who is running a set at his base in Switzerland, have identified the wheels to be very stable in cross winds, spin up rapidly and provide incredible power transfer to the road all while remaining super comfortable on varied road surfaces.

“We set out to optimise aero performance, minimise weight, increase stiffness and provide fatigue battling comfort” says Jon. Production commenced in March this year with 90% of wheelsets going into the high end Asian and USA markets.
