Alistair Hamilton

Alistair Hamilton is Director of Design Planning for Amazon Devices where he leads a cross-business team responsible for design’s portfolio strategy. He has also led multi-disciplined design and development teams for Amazon Kindle, Prime Video, and Physical Stores.

Prior to Amazon Alistair led teams at BlackBerry, Microsoft, Motorola Enterprise (Symbol Technologies) and NCR. He leads with a passion for design and business innovation and a strength in translating market

and consumer insights into successful, differentiated products.

Born in London, and educated in Canada; he has spent most of his professional career in the US and currently resides in the Seattle area with his wife, three children, and several small watercraft in various stages of repair, development, and use.

He has a Bachelor of Industrial Design from Carleton University and an M.A. in Environmental Studies/Industrial Ecology from Antioch University and holds over 60 patents, and numerous Design awards from the IDSA, Red Dot, iF International Forum, and the Chicago Athenaeum.

In 2021 Alistair was honored with an appointment to IDSA's Academy of Fellows for his contributions to Design practice and Community over 30 years.
