This next-generation Fire/EMS facility redefines what a modern station can be—replacing an outdated building with a forward-thinking environment designed to support those who serve on the front lines.

Recognizing the elevated risks firefighters and paramedics face—including higher rates of cancer and PTSD—the design places long-term health, wellness, and resilience at its core.

Thoughtfully integrated into its surroundings, the station embraces a stand of mature sycamore trees, creating a natural buffer and a shaded outdoor dining patio that enhances daily life. Inside, the guiding vision is simple yet powerful: make the firehouse feel like home. Because crews often work continuous 24-hour shifts, the facility offers residential-style amenities that promote comfort, connection, and recovery.

An open-concept Dayroom, Dining, and Kitchen area—anchored by a warm wood slat ceiling and complemented by a sleek LED fireplace—creates a welcoming, cohesive space for gathering and unwinding. Strategic planning ensures optimal performance, with the dorm wing positioned for the fastest possible response times and key living and fitness areas placed to encourage interaction and well-being.

Training is seamlessly embedded into the architecture, including a prominent elevated bail-out window and mezzanine that support real-world simulation exercises while contributing to a strong civic presence along the street.

Sustainability is also a driving force. A 41 kW rooftop solar array generates up to 25% of the facility’s energy, reinforcing a commitment to environmental responsibility.

The result is more than a fire station—it’s a high-performance, health-centered home base designed to support those who protect the community every day.
