EZ BINZ

As a master builder of high-end homes, Ronan Heaney had a product idea to solve the age-old problem people have when they overstuff their kitchen garbage can.

Hence, he created and invented EZ BINZ which is the resulting product whose design and technology has solved the problem. This functional garbage can opens easily allowing the consumer to remove the inner garbage bag.. No more ripped bags or the frustration of pulling and tugging the bag out with EZ BINZ.

EZ BINZ and its’ design team from Realize Innovations was able to create a foot activated articulating waste bin that easily hinges open creating a differentiating "convenient to remove" waste bag experience.

The teams’ initial challenges were to create a simple, new technology which allows the garbage bin to separate and allow the front panel of the garbage can to fall forward. This intention would create space making it easy for anyone, of any age, to easily pull out the garbage bag without restriction.

Working with the EZ BINZ management team, the Realize Innovation product designers went through a five-phase program. Starting with concept development, refinement, model fabrication, CAD detail development and then finally the production of a “looks like-works like” prototype.

Each of these stages represented a series of trial and error fraught with setbacks as well as discoveries. The ease of manufacturing, tolerable consumer price point, sourcing of readily available raw materials and aesthetic appeal were just some of the on going challenges in bringing EZ BINZ to the product reality it is today.
