Electric Park Garden Bar

After completing the renovation of a historic brewery building into the new home for a local Kansas City distillery, the brand’s visitor experience has now been extended into an indoor/outdoor bar and restaurant.

The 11,000 SF garden-bar hybrid is located in a park-like setting on the historic grounds of the distillery’s loading dock, retrofitting a previously underutilized dead zone into inviting outdoor gathering spaces. The unique and constrained site is anchored between the distillery to the West, railroad to the north, and overhead trafficway to the East. To incorporate the design as a seamless extension of the historic brewery building, the material palette, masonry details, and cast stone elements were integrated throughout the project. The outdoor space was designed as an urban park amongst its industrial surroundings, infusing greenery, lighting, and integrated seating into outdoor rooms that span various levels. The venue is also a celebration of the neighborhood’s historic amusement park built at the turn of the 20th century. A walk-up bar, food truck, and live music all playfully mimic the concession stands and carnival-like fare of the historic park while supplementing the existing distillery’s offerings.
