1030 Music Row demonstrates how innovative design and sustainable construction can redefine the modern workplace while contributing to the evolution of one of Nashville's most iconic neighborhoods.

Designed by Anecdote Architectural Experiences for a repeat client seeking a forward-thinking office building, the five-story development is one of the region's first large-scale mass timber office building.

The building's structural system utilizes cross-laminated timber (CLT), dowel-laminated timber (DLT), and glulam to create warm, exposed interiors while significantly reducing the project's environmental impact. The rapidly renewable wood used throughout the building can be regrown in North American forests in approximately seven minutes, making mass timber a responsible alternative to conventional structural materials. Prefabricated timber components also accelerated construction, reduced jobsite waste, minimized water use, and enabled earlier occupancy for the owner.

Designing an exposed timber structure required thoughtful coordination between architecture and engineering. Durable larch glulam columns support the exterior, while Douglas fir was selected for the interior columns and floor structure, balancing performance, durability, and aesthetics through careful structural analysis.

Occupant well-being was equally important to the project's vision. The exposed wood structure creates a naturally biophilic environment that promotes comfort and connection to nature, while bipolar ionization enhances indoor air quality and touchless building systems reduce high-contact surfaces. By combining sustainable materials, advanced building technology, and timeless design, 1030 Music Row establishes a new benchmark for high-performance office buildings and showcases the transformative potential of mass timber construction.
