Cloudland at McLemore Resort

Tinker Ma is proud to have designed Cloudland at McLemore Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, a full-service, five-star destination perched on the edge of Lookout Mountain.
Surrounded by breathtaking views of McLemore Cove, the resort blends refined hospitality with rustic, mountaintop comfort, offering 245 guestrooms, multiple dining experiences, an outdoor infinity pool and bar, and a spa and wellness center crafted to immerse guests in the natural landscape.
Rooted in the drama of its setting within 20,000 acres of protected wilderness, Cloudland’s architecture celebrates the human instinct to seek the edge. Sited 1,300 feet above the valley floor, the building appears to meander along the bluff, its purposeful shifts disguising its scale while reinforcing a deep connection to the terrain. Regional mountain craftsman forms, pitched roofs, shed dormers, oversized timber struts, natural stone, and wood combine with fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor spaces to create an experience that feels both immersive and organically tied to its surroundings.
The guest journey begins beneath a steel-and-timber porte-cochère, where views are intentionally revealed in stages, culminating in the Great Room’s two-story glass wall framing expansive vistas. Warm, natural materials—hickory plank ceilings, slate floors, cold-rolled steel, and a monumental timber hearth—establish an alpine-inspired retreat. Custom furniture, a sculptural staircase wrapped in leather straps, a stone-inlaid reception desk, and a 142-foot library with 700 curated titles further define the resort’s distinct character.
Dining options include a cozy café, family restaurant, cliffside venue, and Auld Alliance, a fine dining concept that merges rustic charm with European sophistication. Additional amenities include a flexible Conference Center for events of all scales and Selah Spa, a serene sanctuary offering hydrotherapy, saunas, and nature-inspired treatments.
Designed with a commitment to environmental stewardship, Cloudland incorporates native landscaping, reclaimed materials, and passive design strategies that enhance energy performance while preserving the natural site. The result is a resort that deepens guest connection to place and reflects Tinker Ma’s dedication to thoughtful, enduring design.
